Start-up Scholarships for the Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS), University of Basel
The Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS) forms a newly founded institutional framework for teaching and research at the doctoral level in the domain of social sciences at the Faculty of Humanities.
The scholarships are meant to support young graduates in the early stages of their PhD, during which they will develop research project proposals for submission to a funding body such as the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Candidates are expected to be highly motivated to carry out an independent research project of several years as an active member of the GSSS. The willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment and a vivid interest for scientific debates are a fundamental prerequisite for any application.
The scholarships are directed at students holding a Master’s degree or a “Licence/Lizentiat” in one of the GSSS fields (as described above), as well as at those who will acquire such a degree by August 15th, 2013.
